Matthews brings experience, creativity, and a proven track record at the collegiate and academy levels. Capable of playing anywhere across the front line, his adaptability and work rate make him a valuable asset to the squad

Born in Lawrenceville, GA and raised in Atlanta, Jordan Matthews had a standout 2024 season with the NCAA Division I Lindenwood Lions. He appeared in all 20 matches, starting six, and contributed two goals and two assists for a total of six points. Matthews registered five shots on goal, posting a .417 SOG percentage. Highlights of his season include scoring the game-winning goal against Utah Tech on September 13 and recording a goal and two assists in a dominant performance against Eastern Illinois on October 6.

Before joining Lindenwood, Matthews spent two seasons (2021–2022) with the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, where he made 27 appearances. As a sophomore, he started nine matches, tallying two goals and one assist while accumulating a total of 1,543 minutes played during his time with the Gamecocks.

Matthews developed through the Atlanta United Youth Academy from 2017 to 2019, playing as a forward/striker from U16 through U19. He scored five goals in 51 appearances for the Academy. In 2018, he was one of only two Atlanta United Academy players selected for the prestigious Generation Adidas Elite Soccer Program (ESP), the top youth development platform for MLS Academy players.

On July 24, 2019, Matthews made an appearance for Atlanta United 2, the USL Championship affiliate of Atlanta United FC, starting as a defender in a 2–2 draw against Charlotte Independence.

That same year, he was also one of just three Atlanta United Academy players chosen to train with Aberdeen Football Club, a professional side in Scotland’s top division.

We’re excited to bring Jordan back again this year. He’s a fantastic attacking talent with the pace and work rate to impact the scoreline and drive our press. My favorite part of Jordan’s play is the consistency, energy and enthusiasm he brings to every team environment he’s a part of.

Welcome back, Jordan!
